Latest Updates from Our Project:

VANDALISM! Closed Alpha Update 1 is live!
almost 7 years ago – Wed, Jun 14, 2017 at 08:00:37 PM

If you have access, play the VANDALISM update today!

Today we're launching the first update to the Closed Alpha on itch.io: VANDALISM! Check out David and Isaac playing through a mission and talking about all the new features:

This update includes everything from our first Stretch Goal, and more:

  • Cybernetic Fist: A new weapon you can buy from the Shop, the Cyber Fist is a melee weapon that can target both enemies and the environment, both for massive damage! Just get within one tile of the target and punch away!
  • New Music from Jukio Kallio: Calm Before the Gunfire is now part of the playlist in-game!
  • New Music from Kuedo: Who Gave You Access is now part of the playlist in-game!
  • Extended Cover System: We've overhauled the way cover works in game, and there's a new UI to show you where cover exists! Shoot over low cover and around high cover corners! Stunned enemies can now be used as low cover!
  • More destructible objects: We've added new destructible objects: Balloons, Monitors, Bottles, Shelves, Paintings, Sculptures, Beer Kegs, Incubation Tanks, Fire Extinguishers, plus columns can now be destroyed enough to become low cover and lighting will fall off the walls!
  • New room type: storage backrooms: A new backroom that you'll find in many clubs, used to store things!
  • Better danger prediction system: The danger prediction that is done during combat should now be more reliable! No more "outcome unknown"!
  • New dialogues: We've done a pass on a lot of the dialogues so they make a bit more sense, as well as adding more variety. This is still in progress though!
  • Bugs: We've fixed lots of bugs! But we've probably added new ones! It's still an Alpha after all!

Next update: July 12th

We'll launch the next Closed Alpha update in 4 weeks, on July 12th! We aim to keep with our Stretch goal themes, so the next one will be DRONE WARFARE!

Fill out your survey before the end of July!

Thanks to the 80% of you who have filled out your surveys on BackerKit! The deadline is the end of July, so you still have some time - but the sooner the better! Once that's done, we'll be able to start getting everybody's rewards in-game.

And don't forget - you can top-up your pledge levels to upgrade your tier and get Closed Alpha access, or buy some of our awesome merch, like this clubbing-friendly tank top featuring Kai getting down!

We're excited to see what new ways you find of playing the game with these new features - feel free to send us feedback on the forums and make all the Let's Play videos you want!

Closed Alpha on itch.io begins May 17!
almost 7 years ago – Wed, May 10, 2017 at 04:08:05 PM

Hello backers! We're going to be launching the Closed Alpha of All Walls Must Fall next week, on May 17th! Read on to find out how to get your key!

TLDR:

  • Backer surveys will be sent out on May 17th, via BackerKit.
  • Closed Alpha keys will be sent out via BackerKit after you fill out the survey.
  • You can also choose your add-ons as part of the survey process (and top-up your pledge if you want more!).
  • Didn't back at the Informal Collaborator tier or above, but want Closed Alpha access? You'll be able to top-up your pledge and get access during the survey process!
  • You have until the end of July to fill out your surveys!
  • We have an All Walls Must Fall Steam Page now, so tell all your friends to put it on their wishlist!

BackerKit surveys

We've been spending the last couple of weeks getting everything ready for the Closed Alpha launch. We're using BackerKit for all the post-Kickstarter support for backers, including distributing keys, getting info from you guys for pledge rewards, and handling add-ons and ordering. BackerKit helps us and saves us time by rolling all this into one service, and allows us to focus more of our resources on actually developing the game.

For you backers, this is all done through one service: the BackerKit survey. On May 17, the email address you use on Kickstarter will get an invite from BackerKit, with a link to your personal survey. You do not need to create a BackerKit account to fill out your survey, just click on the survey link, fill it out, and you’re all good to go! You will be able to answer questions about your rewards preferences, provide shipping information, and pledge for more “add-ons” if you'd like. You do not have access to this survey link yet, but it will be available soon via email!

If you decide later that you want to edit your survey response, you can go back to your survey and change it any time before we lock down the surveys for processing, which will be at the end of July.

If you need to review your information or pledge status, you will be able to recover your survey here: awmf.backerkit.com.

If you use your Facebook login for your Kickstarter account, the BackerKit survey will be sent to the email you used for your Facebook account. If you have another email address that you would prefer to use, please contact support at awmf.backerkit.com/faq and we'll get you sorted out!

Closed Alpha keys

Once you've filled in your survey, if you pledged at the Informal Collaborator tier or above, BackerKit should automatically provide you with your itch.io key(s) for the game! If you haven't used itch before, you'll need to make an account there, and then you'll be able to add the game to your account. We strongly recommend using the itch.io app to download the game, as it keeps the build up-to-date automatically and we'll be uploading updates frequently.

Closed Alpha Feedback

The game is of course still in development - we want your thoughts on what we've got so far, and what you'd like to see changed! There are two ways we'd like you to send us this feedback:

  • From in-game via stomt:

We've added a way to send us quick feedback from inside the game. There's a button in the HUD you can press at any time to bring up this form and send us whatever's on your mind. This feedback goes to our stomt page, and can be seen by anybody. Other people (including us!) can reply there and we can use these quick thoughts as the jumping off point for discussions.

  • On the itch.io Closed Alpha forums

As part of your Closed Alpha access, you'll be able to use the forums on itch.io. That's a better place for longer-form discussion, and it'll also be where we post information about updates to the game, and keep you all informed about what we're currently working on and our priorities. There will also be information about how to send us bug or crash reports.

Wishlist us on Steam!

We were very happy to get through Steam Greenlight during the Kickstarter campaign - and now you (and all your friends) can now add All Walls Must Fall to your wishlist! Just visit the Steam page and click the button to get automatically informed when any updates are posted there: and tell your friends as well!

WITH YOU, WE'LL MAKE IT.
about 7 years ago – Thu, Apr 20, 2017 at 07:28:57 PM

1,402 backers pledged €36,576 for All Walls Must Fall!

Thanks to every one of you! In the very last day we even broke through one more Stretch Goal, DISCRIMINATION! Here's a recap of everything that you made possible - all these Stretch Goal features will be delivered!

We didn't hit the Toilets stretch goal, and the Act 2 one was still someway off - but we'll still aim to put them in the game eventually! But these will probably have to wait until the Early Access launch on Steam (oh yeah, and we got Greenlit too! Woot!). But we hope we'll find a way to put Alev, Glenn and their unique time manipulation abilities into the game one way or another. Once we have a roadmap for these features, you'll be the first to hear!

What's next?

Check that your backing payment went through! Kickstarter should have got in touch to let you know if it all worked out or if there was some snag. You have only 7 days to fix the payment - just log in to Kickstarter and there should be a "Fix Payment" button. If you have any problems at all, please get in touch with us or Kickstarter, and we'll work something out!

There's about a two week period while Kickstarter processes everybody's payment and gives us all your details. Once we have everything we need, we'll be sending out itch keys for the Closed Alpha right away! That's also when the Closed Alpha forums will open up on itch.io. That should be in Early May. Once we've got the exact date locked down, we'll be sure to let you all know.

The backer surveys will probably also be sent out in May. We need to make sure we have all the right questions laid out for the various rewards. At that point you'll also be able to select your add-ons and top up your pledges if you want to add extra things or even upgrade your pledge level. We'll aim to have all the physical goodies sent out so they start arriving in September at the latest. That means there'll be a deadline for completing your surveys some point before then. Once we've got those dates locked down, we'll let you know of course!

Know any late backers?

If you have any friends who wanted to support the campaign but couldn't in time - or wanted to use PayPal, let them know it's not too late! Many of our rewards were Kickstarter exclusive, but they can still pre-order the game and get a Steam key, or grab some of the physical add-ons! Just direct them to the Backerkit preorder page here. Backers can also check this page for a look at the add-ons that are available, like this awesome Turbo Trabbi mug:

If you have any suggestions for more add-ons, let us know! We'll be adding more things in the next few weeks and can take your ideas into account.

We're really looking forward to getting into continued development with you all! In the meantime, next week is the International Games Week here in Berlin, a week-long festival with a number of events. David and Isaac will be speaking at the Quo Vadis conference on Wednesday at 11:30, about how we founded inbetweengames and are making All Walls Must Fall as a small indie team with the Unreal Engine. Then also on Wednesday, we'll be showing the game at the A MAZE. festival's opening party from 9pm-1am. A MAZE is a really awesome festival with a few days of talks, but also an exhibition and concert programme in the evening that you don't need a full-price ticket for. That's where we'll be, so if you're in town come along and say hi! Otherwise, follow us on twitter and we'll try and document everything for those of you that can't make it to enjoy too <3

Thanks again for everybody's support!

LAST SIX HOURS! Surprise new Music! More Add-ons! FINALE LIVESTREAM!
about 7 years ago – Wed, Apr 19, 2017 at 03:15:47 PM

The show of support in the last 24 hours has been really amazing - thank you all so much! Our very own Almut, aka muuutsch, has a last minute addition as well with a sketch of a new track to add to the Soundtrack, called "Last Minutes". Hit Play on this moody minimal techno track and then continue to read about Add-ons and our livestream fun!

Add-ons: New Tank Top and Poster

We've had a couple of add-ons available during the campaign already, a Dancing Kai T-Shirt and a poster featuring East Berlin's Fernsehturm (TV Tower):

But the other factions want in on the action too! We're adding a new poster featuring West Berlin's Teufelsberg (Devil's Mountain) station, and a tank top featuring the Faceless.

To get either of these items, just add the correct amount to your pledge in Kickstarter: €20 for a Poster, and €30 for a T-Shirt or Tank Top. Please also add €10 for shipping outside of the US, EU or Canada. And don't worry if you miss the end of the campaign! When we send out surveys in a couple of weeks, you'll be able to up your pledge again then and select what addons you'd like, and also specify size and if you want Unisex or Woman's options. And we'll have more to choose from for sure! If you have any suggestions on what you'd like to see, let us know in the comments!

Finale Livestream soon!

We had a great time playing the game in the Livestream with Riad yesterday. If you missed it, you can see it again here. Today at 1800 CEST, for the final 2 hours of the campaign, we'll be livestreaming and playing the game again! Maybe we'll even finish off the campaign playthrough that Riad began. You can submit questions already that we'll answer during the stream - just sign up on Kickstarter!

So, with just six hours remaining, we're less than € 200 from the DISCRIMINATION update!

Can we make both that and TOILETS by the end of the campaign? That would be amazing!

See you at the livestream!

New music track from Kuedo, Stretch Goal update, Thunderclap number 2, Livestream with Riad - the final 30 hours!
about 7 years ago – Tue, Apr 18, 2017 at 08:49:52 PM

Wow, what a campaign! We're getting into the last 30 hour countdown, and we've got a lot planned - so let's get started!

New music track: Who Gave You Access by Kuedo

We've got a new track for the soundtrack to announce! Kuedo is the alias of Berlin-based Jamie Teasdale, formerly one half of the duo Vex’d, whose 2005 album “Degenerate” re-wrote the UK bass rulebook. Kuedo’s acclaimed 2011 debut album ‘Severant’ astonished critics once again with its futuristic synthscapes and its footwork and trap rhythms. In 2016 Kuedo released his follow-up ‘Slow Knife’ delving further into emotional filmscapes and anxious atmospheres. All Walls Must Fall marks Kuedo's first foray into procedural videogame music compositions, and we at inbetweengames are really happy to have him on the soundtrack.

This brings the OST to 8 tracks in total from 6 different artists that will be included in the game during the Closed Alpha phase, and we'll be dropping them in the build as they are finished. You can listen to the whole soundtrack so far here. We hope to be adding more music in the future!

Stretch goal update

We've hit another stretch goal, BAD LANGUAGE! Thanks to everyone who's joined us to make that happen! And even better, we're well on the way to hitting the next one, DISCRIMINATION!

In winter in Berlin, you need a big heavy jacket. But clubs turn up the heat to get people to relax. You need a Coat Check room to change into your party outfit and leave your stuff securely. But maybe someone left something useful in their jacket pocket. If you get their coat check ticket, it can be yours.

You know they're here somewhere - but finding them in the crowd can be tricky. The new Identify Target mission has you scope out the venue for that very special person.

Some eagle-eyed backers might have noticed that our current clubs are rather male-only. And is it me, or are there only one or two faces that repeat over and over? With this update we'll add many new body types, clothing styles and gender options for our cast of clubbers.

But with diversity comes discrimination. Some clubs are pretty picky about their clientele, and enforce not only a dress code but also a certain level of superiority at the door. Some clubs might be for a specific sub-culture, and if you don't match, you're turned away. We'll add a line at the door of clubbers who want to get in, and if your agent doesn't fit, you might need to get on the guestlist first - or find another way inside.

Second Thunderclap Soon!

Thanks also to everybody who supported yesterday's Thunderclap. Thunderclap is a platform where lots of people can sign up to push out a message on Twitter, Facebook and Tumblr, all at the same time for maximum exposure. We have another Thunderclap scheduled to mark the last 24 hours of the campaign, which will go out today. If you haven't signed up, please join us and help spread the word!

First Livestream tonight with Riad from Maschinen-Mensch

We have two livestreams planned, one for the last 2 hours of the campaign, and one for today! For today's we'll be joined by Riad from Maschinen-Mensch, creators of The Curious Expedition. He'll be playing All Walls Must Fall with us, while we take your questions. We go live on Kickstarter at 1800 today, Berlin time - for a reminder, join this Facebook event!

For tomorrow's livestream, we'll be counting down to the end of the campaign with all of you! We have another Facebook event for that one too - invite your friends!

Thanks,
Isaac, David, Rafal and Almut
